S Asked: is learning a new language and studying architecture in germany good idea ?

i just finshed my bachelors in design majoring landscape architecture.. i would like to know good unis for architecture in europe or should i try usa? i am tight on budget i finished my degree at RMIT melbourne Australia… i want to try something different.. is learning a language at 21 a good dea if so should i learn german or soemthing more common ..? :S help!

So, I've recently gotten into the landscaping mood. I really want to do something new and fresh with my backyard, granted there's not too much to work with. I'm going to clear this up really quick, I'm 19. I don't have full control over the yard, naturally, as I have to go through my parents first, but this is just the first step into learning different things about landscaping and getting a better idea for when I move out.

It's an "L" shaped backyard, decent enough for a dog to get his required amount of exercise. What I want to do, is give it a sort of Japanese, zen feel to it. I was thinking of putting up maybe a tressle wall along the fence, a small waterfall type deal in the corners. I wanted to put up lanterns and small posts around to see if I can't brighten up the mood.

How would one generally go about re-modelling a backyard? What steps should I take? I want this to be my project for the summer, and I'd really like to get started as soon as possible. What plants should I look into, and what kind of designs should I be looking at? Pointing me in the right direction and hints and tips would be greeeatly appreciated.
